7th International Shadow Theatre Festivalin Schwaebisch Gmuend / Germany16. - 21. October 2006 A review with photos “Shadow Theatre and Music” was the focal point of the 2006 festival. Music played a central role in more than half of the productions. The programme included well-known pieces such as Strawinsky:s “The Firebird”, Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville”, Gluck’s “Orpheus and Euridyce” and Prokofieff’s “Peter and the Wolf”. This festival concentrated on how shadow players can change music into visual images and it promised to be especially exciting and interesting. 14 companies from 7 countries (Canada, Thailand, Sweden, Belgium, Italy England and Germany) presenedt 23 shows for children and adults and demonstrated the wonderful and fascinating technical and artistic possibilities which light and shadow have to offer. Performers from all over the world came together in order to study the expertise of contemporary shadow theatre and to discuss in the “Shadow Café” what they have experienced. The special atmosphere generated at this festival is now legendary.
