Shadows in the Atrium
Kulturzentrum Prediger, Atrium

Students from the Department of Art at the teacher training college in Schwaebisch Gmuend will demonstrate the phenomenon of shadow in the foyer of the Prediger in a way which is artistic, interwoven, enigmatic and playful. Using installative intrusions into the spatial atrium they will present as a leitmotif the fascinating interaction of light, matter and space. Shadows on the walls, on the floor, on the stairways or alcoves will react to the architectural settings and attain a startling life of their own. By becoming larger or smaller, duplicating or distorting themselves, changing and dematerializing, they will awaken the wish for discovery which is partly accessible and partly concealed. They will challenge the spectator to interact for him- herself, particularly where material presence and immaterial fantasy come together.

Seminar Lecturers:
Rolf Fässer (a visual artist from Berlin, at present visiting lecturer at the TTC in Schwäbisch Gmünd), Notburga Karl (a visual artist from Regensburg and lecturer at the TTC), Dr. Petra Kathke (Professor for Art and Art Didactics at the TTC).
